THIS IS NOT SAYING  DO NOT GIVE.... BUT PARTICIPATE IN YOUR GIFT!  SHARE! Whilst enjoying your gifts, food and the decorations you prepared remember that so many cannot share the costly celebrations we do, but we ALL share in the gift of His coming amongst us! Happy Christmas 2011!

Challenge your odds

Gone are the days of "sei come la mia moto" or "e qui la festa" but jovanotti now lorenzo managed to go on transmitting his mood. The sincerity of the mood in songs was always present and now he continues to pass on important messages true to al times but indeed these! Ora touches on such a deep reality in today's world as i see it! How many discussions have i been part of where proposals killed by the fear of failure? Indeed how many times have we chosen to speak about things rather than do them? I for one know so many times have I given in to the dark corridors of the unknown, the steep slide down to failure or just the heavy weight of laziness! And ideas remained just that! I believe we live in a world of resources we just don't use, just because so many false preachers teach perfection! Life is just not perfect and as humans we all need to accept that whatever we will do will lack perfection. Now the choice is ours, either do nothing just
For advent I am working on gospel enquiries based on the Sunday gospels ...you might find them handy! http://gospelenquiry.blogspot.com/

Facts Justice and Moral Rigour

For those who do not remember or who have not lived those days, these two great magistrates fought the mafia up front, alas the problems depicted in this poem to remember them still seem to exist, thankfully even the youth decidedness to fight it! Apologies to those who those who do not understand italian! it might be a good reason to learn a bit of it;) Migliaia di ragazzi in piazza a Palermo un saluto alla bara del giudice Falcone, hanno bisogno di una risposta.

CHANGE =

The past week was an intensive induction into the reality of the YCW UK; a reality I'm humbled to be able to share this year with! Indeed accompanying is always a learning experience! Some explain it as a possibility to teach, I think sharing learning experiences, makes more justice to the service. One of the things I learnt this week is the Change formula; what it takes to bring about change. CHANGE dissatisfaction of the present   + vision of the future  + knowledge of a starting point dissatisfaction of the present Without sounding grumpy I must admit it seems to me that the world does reserve quite a dose of dissatisfaction of the present especially when we notice the injustices around us and the great potential to make the word a better place that is built in in our every day personal decisions! vision of the future Young people (together with many other young at heart individuals) are the greatest suppliers of this. However we need to be ab

Hakuna Matata!

Its a problem free philosophy.... This morning Roberta and myself had a looooong walk, which included a picnic, a walk through carnaby street, and a shopping spree (for things i forgot to pack). However it all started at Pimlico; which we thought was a rare one to find at 10am here only to realise later that most churches do!...whatever it was a good choice. The parish priest there had just come form world youth day in Madrid and shared some reflections. One which struck me was when he shared that a friend of his, a young person who was at the WYD too, shred with him that he had left the religion because it had been a burden all his life, he felt it as a huge weight he always had to carry! With peace of heart and a smile he also said he congratulated his friend as if that was his experience of religion, it was definitely not corresponding to the experience of the kingdom of God we believe in! Not the God being proclaimed at world youth day! So doing away with the exp

The best way to predict the future is to invent it

And so here we are, today is our first day in London for this year. It has already had its fair share of wonders....a great english breakfast on airmalta, a very warm welcome from Phil and Anna who met us at the airport and indeed a 16 degrees celcius temperature when here. On our way here I read a book given to me by two newly wed friends Massimo & Anastasia whom i wish all the best. One thing that stayed with me from what i read is this marvellous quote: The best way to predict the future is to invent it . Alan Kay It kept coming back to me as it depicts so nicely the spirit Roberta & myself came here with, but not only. It captures the true essence of what I understand by living life! so true about all we do in life, alas and so often we spend so much time trying to discover our future, our call our mission. And I don't mean we should refrain from taking time to look for such treasures, such visions! However I believe we should also realise the g

Re reading the story of the miracle of the two fish and five loaves

Two fish and five loaves where all the young boy had according to the gospel presented in yesterdays' liturgy. A young boy. Very little food. Thousands of people present. Time and again have i tried to imagine just how grand the experience of this miracle must have been. I think i also remember a film clip showing bread simply multiplying. Like magic. Yesterday however i was presented with a different, possibility of a learning interpretation of this miracle. What this miracle has to say to me...today... 2011. I will share this with you. So just imagine. what if most of the people actually had a small ration of food in fact? What if the young boy was the only one who was ready to share his quantitatively insignificant portion of food? Could the hungry people have actually had the food right there in there bags? Could it be that they just where afraid to bring it out because they felt it was insignificant?....or because they feared that their small p

-86

Today we bought our tickets. Its 86 days to go for the London experience! I must say its a mix of feelings that accompanies my anticipation of this challenge! I have been invited by the Young Christian Workers in England and Wales to accompany the YCW team in London for a year starting September 2011. Roberta and myself are really looking forward to this year, it is the Year of the ICYCW International Council ... and it will happen in London! Thus its a year that promises long days of seeing, judging and acting! But Thats exactly whats great about it! Indeed we are looking forward to be able to do all this with Phil and Anna who will (hopefully) be living with us in community (this too is a new reality we are looking forward to!) while being nearer to family and great friends like Danny, Nicky and so many others im sure!' Being involved in the run up of the International Council is an honor and a responsibility I am looking forward to and equally humbled awed in view

WORDS...take your time.....choose them!

We live in a world where we consider illiterate people to be missing something, and rightly so given the array of possibilities we have developed via the vehicle of reading and writing. Whether by pen and paper or digitally the words we read and write provide us with an infinity of knowledge authority and power. Often even without realising it! Indeed often without using neither! This video however challenges all of us, myself as the author and you all reading (it means you can read unless someone is reading it out to you!). How much time do we give to choosing our words? Do we ever notice how blind we can be....think of the beautiful days you experienced in a rush....how much more than the blind man in the video did you enjoy such days!? Think of the many times we where happy to write...say...shout some words without asking ourselves....do they put our real message through? Literate people have a challenge to learn to unfold the power of the same words we use when put forward thoughtf

When i grow up....I want to become a teacher

I am just back from a night of Life awards organized by the Comunio youth group at the MCAST Institute of Business and Commerce. Having worked with a really committed group of students at publishing a magazine with the theme of life, I went there in support of their great work and the pro-life message they continuously work to pass on. To my utter surprise I was presented with an award myself! I will not go into the merits of such an award, all I can say is that I simply feel gratefulness and a deep sense of responsibility and honor. In the few words I was asked to say (while still unshure this was really happening) I shared what I truly believe this award means to me, with thanks and heartfelt respect to these young people. When I grow up I want to become a teacher. And this is not because of a great classroom experience in my school years! I want to become a teacher because of what I learnt, when I used to be asked to be allowed in the staff room! Yes, that out of bou
