Nelson Maldela - 1918-2013

Forgiveness is

Forgiveness is not to condone or minimize the awfulness of an atrocity or wrong. It is to recognize its ghastliness but to choose to acknowledge the essential humanity of the perpetrator and to give that perpetrator the possibility of making a new beginning. It is an act of much hope and not despair. It is to hope in the essential goodness of people and to have  faith  in their potential to change. It is to bet on that possibility. Forgiveness is not opposed to justice, especially if it is not punitive justice but restorative justice, justice that does not seek primarily to punish the perpetrator, to hit out, but looks to heal a breach, to restore a social equilibrium that the atrocity or misdeed has disturbed.  Desmond Tutu -  http://www.beliefnet.com/Wellness/2001/10/Are-We-Ready-To-Forgive.aspx

Dallas Await!

I'm writing this during the first lap of the trip to Dallas. Malta Heathrow on Airmalta. Just had breakfast...actually a double portion thanks to the generosity of the lady next to me:)...when I'm on holiday my charm improves I guess...unless it was my tummy that convinced her I can take it! Anyways we're off to Dallas, thanks to the encouragtment and invitation of Roberta's cousin Chris, and his family. See you soon!! Its been a 5 o'clock wake up, 6 at the airport, on time departure at 720 and here we are.....probably not yet actually realising what's ahead of us....hoping for an A380 (probably not) and a great 3 week holiday ahead (virtual guarantee). By tonight we will be as Texan as a Dallas can be!

By Not Creating Wealth, We Create Poverty

Perhaps in time we have created a monster in the shape of a group of rich people who create wealth. The size of such a creation is often portrayed as out of proportion to the overall wealth of the world,  through words and numbers alike. And the feeling is that we can do nothing about it. We are small, they are big. They can, we cannot. And sometimes...if the occasion arises, one could argue if you can't beat them join them. Multinationals and other corporate realities, are indeed the owners of most of the financial world globally, many statistics prove this. But what are the factors creating this reality? The answer is surely complex, however, i would like to propose that whilst greed exists, and is perceived as successful, we all have a share in making the gap between poorer and richer wider? In not participating in the creation of wealth, injecting doses of humanity, balance and justice in the process, we participate in letting the world wealth pie: - be smaller than it

Nothing

to love infinitely

I have lately often found myself thinking of the the infinite nature of God's love.  Infinite is a difficult concept for me to understand. Perhaps its because i'm human. However its also somewhat exciting and energising to know that our call is indeed to act in His image in loving those around us....without limits. As i said lately i have thought about this and met people who reminded me of such though. People who manage to love, friends who thirst for such love, moments of difficulty where one can see the human limitations in loving each other as He does. Its obviously difficult, frankly beyond our human limits. Somewhat stupid to the world really. Loving those who feed you hurts.  Yet such a grace for those providing it. And don't we all yearn for such love? In a world where our so ready to identify and amplify our bad deeds, and mistakes, don't we all thirst for the love that loves until it hurts?  I have been blessed to meet many who make efforts
